Day 12: February 10, 2019

Today’s Progress: Applied Accessibility Challenges Practice.

Thoughts: Today I completed the applied accessibility challenges section on FCC’s site. Just about everything covered today was new to me. I was aware of screen readers and alternative text but things like landmarks and access keys weren’t something I’d ever come across in my prior studies.

Definitely something I’m going to make a conscious effort to study further and incorporate into my webpages/designs.

Key Takeaways From Day Twelve:

  • Using an awful color scheme isn’t just tacky, it can affect colorblind users.
  • It’s better to use “brief but descriptive text” for your link text rather than just click here.
